What's the best thing since sliced bread?
The best thing since sliced bread? I think it would have to be sliced cheese. What use was sliced bread in a world where we still had to slice our cheeses? What use was sliced bread when you still had to do slicing of the sandwiches key elements. As Churchill would say "this is not the end, nor the beginning of the end, but it is perhaps the end of the beginning". Sliced Bread was never meant to be the pinnacle, people who follow the cult of sliced bread have missed the point.
To me sliced bread is like February revolution, it paved the way, it opened things up for the future, it was a vital part in the coming of the October revolution, but yet when that came, the February revolution was shown to be nothing but a shallow pre-cursor to the big one. This makes sliced bread a vital step on the road to glory, but only through the invention of sliced cheese do we see the full wonder that is the revolution, the joy of the comrades as Edam and cheddar are liberated from their blocks and allowed the freedom to embrace the future.
I could weep tears of proletariat joy just thinking about it.
