Book: What book would you like to see made into a movie?
Submitted by Felipe Anuel.
I just can't comprehend why nobody has thought to make a film based around the story of Romeo and Juliet - imagine the potential it would have! Gosh, I mean, you'd think in all of these years of Cinema some one would have considered making it, especially as the script is already written and what not. If they were really imaginative they could transpose the story to different times, cultures and places, like with white kids and Puerto Ricans on the West Side of New York, they could even go all out and make it a musical!
All that potential in the story line, you'd think someone would want to make a movie of it.
Is it likely that the U.S. will have a female president in the near future? In your lifetime? Why?
It's possible. I'm not sure how likely though, it all depends on Hillary, I think if she doesn't do it next year, then it could be a long time before another female candidate with anything like the backing or appeal required comes along. I don't mind Hillary, I think she'd probably do a pretty good job, but I do think she's got a slightly more authoritarian streak than Bill, which makes me slightly nervous about her. I do wonder, however if the Neo-Con and Republican hatred of the Clinton's will push the grass roots support out against her and the divided Democrat camp might not have the same success at mobilising voters and thus lose out. I personally still back Obama, and polls seem to show he has more crossover appeal than Hillary with Republicans and Independents.

Do you believe there is intelligent life on other planets?
I'm not terribly sure there is intelligent life on any planet. Can't we search for it here before we wonder about how it might survive Jupiterian winters?
What are the 10 most memorable music performances you've seen? (Remember, "memorable" may not be good.)
Submitted by Bill.
In the long and distinguished history of music, there is only one performance that I have found truly memorable. Yes, some people may like to focus on amazing gigs they've been too, or nights where they connected so much to the music that it went beyond anything they'd experienced before, but these such occurrences pail into insignificance next to my 1997 performance in the spring term concert with the Whitburn School Orchestra.
While some pupils excelled at their instruments, most of us were not quite so useful, but made up for what we lacked in talent with enthusiasm. So, while the handful or mercilessly smug kids who could play did, certain of the more imaginative pupils in the back row, such as yours truly decided to upstage them with raw musical passion. I raised the Clarinet to my lips, but instead of blowing proceeded to shake and swing it like Louis Armstrong playing his trumpet on Speed.
Awe. Awe. That is what people had. AWE! Or at least I think thats what that not amused, slightly irate, "you're never going to be in another concert ever again" look they were giving us meant. Yes, and what did I get for my performance? Did I get any credit? Nope. And, to add insult to injury I was sacked a month or two later for my "embouchure". Yeah, right, because that was the reason. I'm still not even convinced it's a word never mind a reason to sack your most energetic clarinetist.
