QotW: Olympic Torch Protests

The Olympic torch was lit in Beijing, China on Monday and will be taken on 130-day journey throughout the world. What is your reaction to the Tibet activist groups who plan to demonstrate in large cities as the torch passes through because of China's plans to take the torch through Tibet?

Forgive me for being a pedant but I think the protests might be to do with slightly more than the fact the torch will pass through Tibet.  I think we should seriously consider boycotting the Olympics, so frankly the more people that protest the torch passing the better.

No. Dead wrong. Sorry Pete. It's about the torch and only the torch. That is something that the average pea-sized intellect can understand. And also something worth demolishing cities for.

I'm sorry, Riss, I don't follow. (But then I do have pea-sized intellect :P) Why is it only about the torch, aren't they protesting for a free tibet and the torch is just something to focus those protests on to get attention?

The QotW is completely uninformed, or else very badly worded. Perhaps we should give the benefit of the doubt and assume it is the latter. Either way, I am inclined to answer your question with "cos dey stoopid".
